Richmond, Virginia (Day 1)

:))))

Made some changes to the layout of my blog! I'm not sure if the fanciness makes it more tedious to read. Let me know if the new layout is hard on the eyes!!

Sooo over the weekend, we made a trip out of the NC state!! We met up at about 11am on Saturday, headed to Walmart to get some food and took a 45-min drive to Kerr Lake (still within NC state)! Kerr Lake is the top 3 state parks in NC state. And here we go for some picnic!

Checking out our shopping!

Selfieeee

Looking happy but is in fact starving

A random #ootd shot!

& digress a little, this is my small purse-bag from F21! Not a steal or anything but is super convenient!!! Can fit so much stuff in it!

Load our rented car with the shopping and here we goooooo!

 Nearing our destination!

Had to take a photo of this to mock at KS's parking skills.

 Spot Jake

Our picnic menu:

Cherry Limeade Juice (which is really quite gross)
Doritos & Lays with nacho cheese dip
Pepper & Lime Roasted Chicken
Potato Salad
Bread & assorted spreads
Mini Red Velvet Cupcakes

Trying to be artsy here. These mini red velvet cuppies costed about 85 cents (USD) ea! Even Walmart sells amazing cupcakes. I'm getting worried for my weight.

Look at what spiderwebs can do to a plant!!!

& the amount of maggots(?) trapped inside :/

We concluded that picnics are only glam in photos when you go to places like these. People always look happy in pictures, enjoying the food and company but the fact is there are probably lotsa weird insects and flies hanging around you and your food making you feel queasy and disgusted and eventually hesitate and wonder if your food is really still clean enough to be eaten. Oh wells, our stomachs were rumbling throughout the ride with the aroma from the chicken so we pretty much gobbled everything up while stamping our feet from time to time.

After touring around for a little bit, we finally made our way out of NC state to Virginia! It's about a 2-hour drive!

Checked in to Hampton Inn, dropped our luggage and made our way to Maymont! 5 of us shared a room in Hampton Inn and it costed bout $27/pax/night! Which was really reasonable cuz the room was clean and bathroom was very spacious! It was also well-equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffee machine and bathtub. Both the interior and exterior of the inn look relatively new! No dirty walls or peeling paints! I forgot to take some pictures of the room though :( We were all impressed and satisfied with the room!

So here! 5 happy people with satisfied faces!

& here we go! Maymont!

A mansion! There is supposingly a tour inside the mansion but we were too late for that >:( I've never been in a mansion!

Since we couldn't go into the mansion for a tour, we just get cheap thrill from taking pictures outside..

We missed all of these attractions cuz the park closes at 7 and we only reached at bout 5ish. -_-

After a short tour through the nature and looking at colourful flowers and perpetual greeneries, we decided to have American food for dinner! Which is what I would call one of the rare times cuz I never really craved for western/american food whether I'm in Chapel Hill, Singapore or wherever. Hawker food and chinese food ftw!!!! I lost count of how many times I mention I miss eating bar chor mee. Anyways, we finally had the feel for western food!!

 Settled for New York Deli!

Hot Buffalo Wings w Blue Cheese  Dip IS DA BOMBZ!

Herb Crusted Salmon w Garlic Butter Spinach  // Creamy Mushroom Risotto // Stir-fry Veg

 Ks's Beefsteak Sandwich
The fries with the nachocheese-mustard dip is ANOTHER BOMB!!!

Jake's Fried Steak

---Too hungry to take pictures of Sam & Siyi's food--

Last group shot before we dig in!!

And that's pretty much all for Day 1 in Richford! Stay tuned to our adventures on Day 2! :D
